DRAMATURGY

Fiona is a dramaturg specializing in new work and contemporary feminist theater. She believes that a dramaturg, in the simplest terms, is an advocate for the intentions of a piece of theater - whether that be small factual changes in a text, or making sure a rehearsal room feels like a safe and productive space for everyone to do their best work. Fiona loves being in the room developing new work and believes that new work dramaturgy, at its best, can be an expression of vulnerability that, in turn, allows moments of connection to seep into text. Fiona loves working with playwrights on new plays because of the way text can be used to build community. There is something incredible about the moments when one witnesses theater that deeply resonates and the action of acknowledging that there is a playwright, living somewhere, who is able to articulate the thoughts we so often keep to ourselves – the thoughts and stories that make us feel seen.
